Plenty of included food so all the paid options are optional. They will want ~£13pppd service that is optional so you can take it off. Drinks enough non alcohol available without a package and a bit of PAYG if a light drinker. ( we can stick to tea in cabin & buffet & dinner with the odd extra drink) you can take some beverages on with your depending on port this won't get checked. Princess have moved the goal posts recently because not enough people were buying Plus or Premier by adding charges for things previously included.
How much does it cost to go on Royal Princess?
From the top execs down to the hard working stewards. Don’t bring your attitude on board and spoil it for others. Yes, pay up front for Plus which tbh we wouldn't feel we would get the value for money others may get from this but feel that we should pay for it for the more inclusive experience. Princess passengers are typically people who seek casual elegance and shy away from overt trendiness.
Included with your cruise fare:
There may be waits for the elevators or lines at the buffet, but that’s to be expected on most cruise ships. Those seeking some peace and quiet can book a lounger (and a massage!) at Caribbean Princess’ Sanctuary, which is a lovely adult-only sun deck on Deck 17. Not only are these threads hugely informative (and tremendous fun for the armchair cruiser), they’re one of the things that Cruise Critic’s members do best. Fares for a Princess cruise include complimentary dining in a handful of venues, as well as room service and water, tea and coffee, and select juices. A variety of theater productions, Movies Under the Stars and deck parties are also complimentary, and there is no fee for onboard activities with partners like Discovery at Sea, or for youth and teen activities, except late-night group babysitting. Enrichment lectures, classes and presentations are also free with a few exceptions.
Night Alaska CruiseDetails
We only do specialty restaurants if they're included in a promo. We have a wonderful time on our cruises and don't feel deprived at all. We find that there's plenty to do on the ship without paying extra, and we enjoy getting off the ship and just walking around. I don't know if you'll be able to have a good time without all the extras. If you can't do that, then you'll either decide whether to pay whatever or just not cruise. Crown Princess deck plans include six room-only decks (Emerald, Dolphin, Caribe, Baja, Aloha and Riviera), four of which are sandwiched between other room-only decks, allowing for quiet nights in a large percentage of the cabins.
Where does Royal Princess sail from?

A little research prior to booking would have been ideal. Many families choose Princess; multigenerational groups (grandparents, adult children, grandkids) enjoy the dining and entertainment options and the line's solid family programs, particularly during the summer and holidays. During the Alaska season, the average age is mid- to late 50s; on warm-weather itineraries, the average age skews higher into the 60s (except during school holidays).
I think you must have been lured by a low base price and as a result, your expectations were set too high. Once upon a time, cruising was an “ all included” vacation, or almost so. Advertised prices are base, lowest cost inside cabins per person. It doesn’t seem like much until you multiply by the number of passengers and add drinks, specialty dining, excursions and more.

Features & News
Unfortunately, on our Royal Princess Alaska sailing, OceanMedallion didn't live up to the hype. Spotty Wi-Fi hindered ordering drinks using the app in most locations or finding our cabinmate using OceanCompass. Similarly, bartenders or waiters rarely consulted iPads; most interactions used our room number, like always. The MedallionNet internet, billed as strong enough to stream, was inadequate to download email. The hotel director told us the system works better outside Alaska, but at least passengers on our sailing seemed to enjoy wearing the Medallions, even if they eschewed pulling out their phones. The ship’s obstructed-view cabins are located on Deck 8 (Emerald).
Use Cruise Critic’s Roll Calls to Connect Before Your Sailing
You can also use Cruise Critic's guide to health requirements on the world’s major cruise lines as we know them. Your mistake is that you failed to calculate the actual cost of the cruise. I always add in the cost of the Plus package, because you can't cruise without it unless you are a teetotaler and hate wifi. Do note that aside from the Plus package, I spend almost nothing on the ship. I rarely take a ship excursion, as I prefer to do things on my own. With that said, there is no way for you to avoid adding some expense to this trip.

I even spoke to them online and although I don't blame the online agent as they are bound by what they're allowed to do, they didn't want to know, first fail in my book, but they still want more money from me, you can see where this is heading. I totally get they can't just hand out freebies for something that is probably outwith their control but if you want more money from me, I feel I want something it appease my initial disappointment first, is this unreasonable? This experience has tainted the entire cruise for me as I feel I'm just a cash cow right now for Princess when they should be pulling out all the stops. That’s not to say that Royal Princess is stuck in time.
Lest you think the vessel is all about indoor pursuits, the ship has an impressive four pools and lots of sun deck space, so there's plenty of opportunity for soaking up some rays and catnapping the day away. It also features the Reef Family Splash Zone, with a kiddie pool, hot tub, whale-themed water playground, oversized games and a mocktail bar. Our members range from first-time cruisers to veterans with hundreds of sea days under their belts. These include cruisers who almost exclusively sail with a single line, along with those who jump around from ship to ship and line to line.
On Alaskan sailings, you'll find more first-time cruisers who have chosen the ship for the destination, while on warm-weather sailings, you'll find more repeat passengers. Americans dominate, on both routes; expect more people from around the entire country in Alaska and a more local audience when the ship sails from a U.S. homeport. A nice choice for people who love a traditional cruise's comforts and rituals, Royal Princess is big enough, with an impressive array of restaurants, to appeal to first-time cruisers. It's not trendy, but it's hard to be bored here -- that's enough for most Royal Princess passengers.
Lifeboats block views in all cases, but sometimes it’s only partially. Check the Caribbean Princess deck plans before choosing your stateroom. Caribbean Princess maintains a laid-back ambiance, allowing for laugh-out-loud fun that's never too boisterous. One of Cruise Critic’s defining features since its inception in the late 1990’s has been its Message Boards. A place for experienced and would-be cruisers alike to mingle, share information and ask questions, our Message Boards have roughly 2 million members – a number that continues to grow to this day. You could try to invoke package regulation as a major change but unlikely for 1 port to sea day on a 14n cruise unless that port was a major selling point for the ruise..
We rarely go on ship excursions and only go to the speciality restaurants with OBC (on board credit). It would be nice if you added location to your profile, but I had not read very many words at all before realizing you are from UK. It is unfortunate the travel rules there - or one PCL takes advantage of or has a contrary policy - mean your deposits are non-refundable. So, hop aboard and come discover what cruising is all about, from the folks who know it best.
For a restful night, aboard Caribbean Princess your best bet is a cabin on deck 9 (Dolphin), 10 (Caribe), 11 (Baja) or 14 (Riviera). Additionally, and as appealing as they may sound, beware of the Caribbean Princess’ Grand Suite, the Owner’s Suite and the Penthouse Suites on deck 12 (Aloha), as they’re right below the Terrace Pool and may experience some noise. Cruising has often been referred to as a lifestyle, and nowhere is that celebrated more than here at Cruise Critic. We’ve got a passionate community of members (and editorial staff) that eat, sleep, and breathe all things ship.
